Septic System Cost - Residential
New Lot, New House systems have a fairly wide range of costs, depending upon their location. Regardless of the location, you will need to consider the following:
- Permit cost for the actual system.
- Design fees for designing or engineering the system.
- Costs associated for performing soil test holes and soil profile analysis.
- Actual installation costs.
Permit costs depend on the type of system installed. A relatively complex engineered system permit costs somewhere between $950 - 2500.00 for a residential system. Test holes vary, based upon location, but start at $400.00.
Installation costs vary, depending upon the size of the system, the slope of the lot, the amount of available soil on the lot (for the disposal field), and the depth of soil until rock is encountered. Systems vary in price from $19,000.00 all the way to over $100,000.00 (it was a REALLY big house on the lake, with no dirt).
Commercial systems are based upon two things: Hydraulic loads and the strength of sewage. It is very important to hire a competent and experienced firm that has design and construction experience in high strength, or high BOD designs.
